Woman has 3,200 piercings in one sitting

An American woman has attempted to break the world record for the number of body piercings in a single sitting.

Staysha Randall, from Los Angeles, wore just her underwear as 3,200 sterile needles were placed through her skin, beating the previous record of 3,100, although Guinness World Records are yet to officially verify the attempt.

The 22-year-old stage performer - who aptly counts heavy metal band Nine Inch Nails as her favourite group - had the items placed in her back, legs and arms during the procedure at Inktoxicated Tattoos, which was performed by body piercer Bill 'Danger' Robinson.

Texan tattooist Tyson Turk attempted the challenge in six hours and 15 minutes in May 2010.
