Magnitude 6.4 quake hits Chile
US monitors say a magnitude-6.4 earthquake has struck just off the shore of central Chile, affecting the same area where last year’s much larger earthquake set off a devastating tsunami.
Chile’s emergency office said the quake was a 6.3 and that no damage to people or buildings has been reported.
The US Geological Survey says this earthquake struck just before 1300 GMT and was centred 59 miles south-west of Concepcion, the capital of Chile’s Bio-Bio region.
