Syrian forces 'kill 27 protestors'

Syrian security forces opened fire on protesters around the country today, activists said.

The clashes were the latest sign the conflict could be moving towards a long and bloody stalemate as President Bashar Assad shrugged off tighter sanctions and US calls to step aside.
