A puppy fell from the sky after being dropped by an eagle in Canada.
The toy poodle, named May, has been recovering with SPCA staff after she landed in the grounds of Sechelt's Shorncliffe Nursing Home in Vancouver.
Deep talon marks in her back and sides are evidence that she was probably the unwilling passenger of a bird of prey who thought she was a tasty snack - but was unable to carry her weight.
SPCA official Lorie Chortyk said May has had a lucky escape because she was living as a stray before she was whisked away.
She added: "There's been severe neglect, and who knows how long she's been out there. We estimate she's six years old but her nails were growing into her pads and her teeth are badly decayed."
