Schoolboy wears skirt in protest at shorts ban
A schoolboy turned up to classes wearing a skirt because he was banned from wearing shorts.
Chris Whitehead, 12, attended Impington Village College in Cambridge, England wearing the skirt for the day, saying although policy restricted him from wearing shorts during the hot summer months there were no rules saying he couldn't wear a skirt.
He added: "In the summer girl students are allowed to wear skirts but boys are not allowed to wear shorts. We think that this discriminates against boys. I will march in a skirt with other boys waving banners and making a lot of noise."
Headteacher Robert Campbell responded: "Ultimately the boys can wear a skirt to school because it doesn't say they can't in the uniform policy and we would be discriminating against them if we did not allow it."
