Quick thinking sees Australian man escape crocodile attack

An Australian man escaped the jaws of a crocodile by poking it in the eyes.

The beast leapt at the unnamed man during a fishing trip on the Adelaide River and would not let go of his arm.

Luckily the victim was able to retrieve his limb by temporarily blinding the creature, but was left with a badly mauled hand.

An average of two people a year are killed by 'salties' - saltwater crocodiles - which can grow up to seven metres long.
