Authorities evacuate workers from stricken nuclear plant
A number of workers at the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan have been evacuated this morning.
The alarm was raised when smoke was seen rising from reactor number three, which was among the worst affected in the earthquake and tsunami over a week ago.
Earlier it was confirmed that engineers had succeeded in connecting power cables to all of the reactors at the plant.
However, there is growing concern about radiation leaking from the plant with the World Health Organisation saying the problem of contaminated food and water is more serious than first expected.
Milk, vegetables, water and dust have all tested positive for contamination in recent days.
Officially, almost 8,500 people have died in the earthquake and tsunami.
