A lost cat managed to find its way home after travelling through two miles of sewers over ten days.

The cat, who is called Midnight, got lost in a storm drain but managed to navigate her way back to her owner underground and was eventually found under a manhole just yards from home.

When a neighbour heard faint meowing coming from beneath the ground, owner Jeanette Young rang water company Severn Trent to rescue the filthy feline, who was unhurt.

She said: 'It is absolutely amazing. She is so clever. How on earth did she find her way back home underground? "
