Scuba divers in Germany have broken a world record after playing a card game underwater for 36 hours.

The group of 16 - who worked in shifts so they could change oxygen tanks - sat at the bottom of a swimming pool playing a traditional Bavarian game called 'Sheepshead'.

They recorded the stunt on video and plan to contact Guinness World Records officials.

Organiser Eric Schlegelmilch said: "We gave up counting who owed what after an hour. We didn't want anyone going belly up."
