Man attempts to talk to avoid jail

A German conman tried to avoid jail by talking for 14 hours non-stop in court, it has emerged.

Walter Koenig was on trial for fraud and although he attempted to delay proceedings by refusing to stop chatting, he was eventually sent to prison for three years and three months.

Prosecutor Michael Machtel at the Freiburg court said: “It is a German record – but he failed to talk himself out of jail despite the marathon speech.”
