Cold snap prompts sweaters for hens
British hens are being given sweaters to keep warm.
A group of knitters in West Yorkshire in England have spent several months crafting the wooly garments for featherless birds which have been rescued from British poultry farms.
Organiser Amy Leader said: AOL News "In the winter, the hens need a little bit of help keeping warm and that's what the chicken jumpers are for.”
The group have made around 100 sweaters since the summer, and they donate them to a nearby humane society that distributes them to families who have adopted the hens.
The knitters are even considering a festive treat for the birds.
Amy added: "Maybe we can make little Santa hats for them. The possibilities are endless, aren't they?"
