Four men took the pair out of their car and drove them west toward Kunduz province.

A Dutch Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed a Dutch man and his driver had been kidnapped, but did not release their names.

In August 10 members of a Christian medical aid team – six Americans, two Afghans, one German and a Briton – were ambushed and later killed by gunmen in neighbouring Badakhshan province.
