Parents of woman in sex scandal apologise to Coleen Rooney

The parents of the woman whom Wayne Rooney allegedly paid £1,200 (€1,459) a time for sex apologised to the footballer’s wife, Coleen, today.

Hamish and Dana Thompson spoke out after claims that their daughter Jennifer, 21, regularly slept with the Manchester United and England star while his wife was pregnant.

The couple have issued a statement, saying that they will not comment further on the matter.

“Hamish and Dana Thompson would like to provide the following statement,” it read.

“Following this statement, we will not discuss the current situation further.

“The last few days have been extremely trying for us and our family.

“Following the various newspaper articles concerning our daughter Jennifer, we would like to offer our most sincere apologies to Coleen Rooney and her family.

“This may sound somewhat hollow, but my wife and I would never condone what has or may have happened.

“We had absolutely no idea about any of the allegations and claims that have been made.

“Jennifer is our daughter and we love her and we will deal with this matter as a family, not via the media.

“We would appreciate greatly if we could be afforded a degree of privacy and time in which we can gain a better understanding of the situation.

“We would also like to make it clear that we are not interested in being interviewed by any newspaper or magazine no matter what offer has or may be made. This is also true of Jenny’s three brothers (Alexander, Charlie and Max) and other members of our families.

“We will not be answering any questions from this point forward.

“Hamish and Dana Thompson.”

Miss Thompson was born in Aberdeen but brought up in the Gulf state of Qatar as her father is reportedly an oil company executive.

When the family returned to Britain and moved to Heaton, Bolton, she was privately educated at Lord’s Independent School, which charges £1,555 (€1,892) a term.

But her good education and middle-class background were at odds with how her life appeared to develop – working at a Bolton nightclub where she is said to have met footballers.

Today, Rooney remained inside his mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, after returning in the early hours from England’s European Championship qualifier in Basel.

A group of photographers and reporters had been gathered outside since the news broke in the News of the World on Sunday.

Yesterday, his model and celebrity columnist wife emerged from her parents’ plush detached house for the first time.

She appeared with a scarf wrapped round her left hand, concealing the ring finger.
