US President Barack Obama has won the first round in his fight against a controversial new immigration law in Arizona, by securing a partial injunction.

The partial injunction will not prevent the law taking effect in the state of Arizona, but it has blocked parts requiring police to find out the immigration status of all the people they arrest.
