At least 17 people have been killed and hundreds injured in the Central Asian nation of Kyrgyzstan, which hosts a key US transit base for the Afghanistan war.

At least 17 people have been killed and hundreds injured in the Central Asian nation of Kyrgyzstan, which hosts a key US transit base for the Afghanistan war.

Gangs attacked shops and set cars alight in in Osh, the country’s second-largest city. Several buildings across the city set on fire.

The Health Ministry said many of the injured were being treated for stab and gunshot wounds. More than 40 were in serious condition.
