Obama arrives in Louisiana for oil spill update
President Barack Obama arrived in Louisiana today for updates on the Gulf oil spill and meetings with residents and local officials.
After landing at the New Orleans airport Obama headed into a briefing at an airport hangar with Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, the federal official leading the response to the spill, and other officials.
He then planned to make a speech and drive to Grand Isle, a barrier town affected by the spill, to meet with residents.
Today marked Obama's third visit since the devastating spill began. Pressures on him are mounting as the devastation grows and the president has declared himself furious at the situation.
He cancelled a planned trip to Indonesia and Australia to deal with the situation.
