US Commander: Taliban has trained in Iran

“Clear evidence” existed that some Taliban fighters had trained in Iran, the commander of Nato and US forces in Afghanistan said.

General Stanley McChrystal said in the Afghan capital Kabul that Iran - Afghanistan’s western neighbour – had generally assisted the Afghan government in fighting the insurgent group.
