Refugees enter Togo
Several thousand Ghanaians fleeing ethnic strife in the country's north have crossed the border into Togo in recent days, the United Nations said.
Francis Kpatinde, regional spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, said the Togolese government reacted quickly, supplying the refugees with tents, food and medicine and beginning a campaign to vaccinate children.
Although Ghana is relatively stable, refugees occasionally cross into Togo from the north to flee ethnic fighting and land disputes.
