Alert closes Channel Tunnel for eight hours

Thousands of Eurostar passengers were delayed today after a carbon dioxide alert stopped traffic in the Channel Tunnel.

Services were halted when a detector went off just after 7am this morning and didn't resume until the middle of the afternoon.
