Obama congratulates new PM Cameron

US President Barack Obama thanked Gordon Brown for his “friendship” and “strong leadership” today while congratulating his successor and inviting him to Washington.

Mr Obama was among the first of the world leaders to call David Cameron after the Tory leader returned from Buckingham Palace as British Prime Minister.
