Cameron confirmed as PM after Brown resigns

Conservatives leader David Cameron has arrived at Buckingham Palace tonight to accept an invitation from Queen Elizabeth II to form a new British government.

It followed tonight's dramatic announcement by Gordon Brown that he was standing down, bringing down the curtain on 13 years of Labour rule.
