Flight diverted after bomb alert

A plane flying from Denver to San Francisco was diverted to Salt Lake City today following a bomb threat, airport officials said.

Salt Lake City superintendent of airport operations Dave Korzep said the FBI and airport police were searching the aircraft.

Mr Korzep said the 193 passengers and six crew remained on board United Flight 741 and buses were waiting to transport passengers to the terminal when the all-clear was given.

Salt Lake City International Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann later revealed that a flight attendant had found a threatening note and given it to the pilot, who felt it was enough of a threat to divert the flight.

She said the passengers and crew disembarked and were taken to the international terminal.

She added that the FBI planned to interview passengers while trying to discover the note’s origin.
