Malaysia court rejects opposition challenge to government

Malaysia's top court rejected a bid by the opposition to challenge the federal government's takeover of a key northern state.

The struggle for control of Perak state sparked a bitter feud between the opposition and Prime Minister Najib Razak's National Front ruling coalition, which wrested control of Perak in February last year by convincing several state opposition legislators to switch sides.

Opposition leaders disputed the legitimacy of the putsch.
