One man died and another is in a critical condition following a shooting in London in the early hours of this morning, police said.

One man died and another is in a critical condition following a shooting in London in the early hours of this morning, police said.

The victim, who has not been identified, was in his 30s.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting took place in Thornton Heath, south London, at around 5am, the Met police said.

The man in his 20s is described as being in a critical condition.

The shooting is being dealt with by detectives from the Met’s Operation Trident - the unit which investigates gun crime in the black community.

A Met police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Queen’s Road in Thornton Heath to reports of a shooting.

“Two men were taken to hospital, one man in his 30s was pronounced dead and the second man in his 20s is in a critical condition.”

No arrests have yet been made.
