Iraq school bombing kills five

Four students are among the dead after an explosion in Baghdad today.

Officials say the bomb blast, at about 1pm local time in a shiite district of Sadr City, killed five people and wounded at least 34.

The area has seen infrequent attacks because it is encircled by US and Iraqi security forces and has its own neighbourhood security.

Also today, gunmen stormed a checkpoint north of Baghdad, killing five members of a Sunni anti al-Qaida group, according to a police official.
