Palestinians to seek UN endorsement of statehood

Palestinian officials said today they were preparing to ask the United Nations to endorse an independent state without Israel’s consent.

They said the decision was taken ecause they were losing hope they could achieve their aspirations through peace talks. The announcement drew a harsh rebuke from Israeli officials.
