Greek cities hit by bomb blasts

Two bombs exploded in Greece early today, one injuring a passer-by.

The first bomb went off outside the Athens Stock Exchange and the second blast at a government building in the city of Thessaloniki, police said.

The stock exchange blast blew out windows at the bourse and a neighbouring car dealership, injuring a passing woman and damaging parked cars and trees.

It followed a warning call to an Athens newspaper. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The second bomb exploded outside a ministry building in Thessaloniki, causing minor damage, police said.

Police said a Greek far-left militant group called Revolutionary Struggle, best known for firing a rocket at the US embassy in Athens in 2007, was suspected over the stock exchange blast.

“The methodology points to Revolutionary Struggle,” police spokesman Panayiotis Stathis said.
