Mexican bishop detained after fatal road crash
One person was killed and five injured in Mexico after a Roman Catholic bishop apparently lost control of his vehicle and ran them over.
Police in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz said Bishop Eduardo Patino Leal has been detained in the town of Huatusco.
Police said the bishop was driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at a high rate of speed when he lost control.
State Public Safety Secretary Sergio Lopez Esquer said the vehicle hit a parked car and a lamp post before mounting the pavement.
The victims are Indian street vendors who were on the pavement. There was no immediate information on their condition.
