Japan holds first criminal jury trial since 1943
Japan opened its first jury trial since the Second World War today under a major overhaul of a legal system that has often been criticised as unfair and arduous.
Six jurors are working with three judges to hand down a verdict for 72-year-old Katsuyoshi Fujii, who has been charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of a 66-year-old neighbour in May.
