Sarkozy in hospital after jogging collapse

French president Nicolas Sarkozy was being monitored in hospital today after collapsing during a jog.

The French premier, 54, was taken by helicopter to a military hospital yesterday after being taken ill in the grounds of the Chateau of Versailles near Paris.

The Elysee Palace said his test results were normal but doctors would keep him under observation through the night.

An Elysee statement said that the president had felt “unwell” after 45 minutes of “intense physical activity”.
