New Zealand police say two workmen have been killed and two injured after a house being moved to a new location collapsed, trapping the men under it in the northern city of Auckland.

Police Inspector Alan Shearer says a digger excavating at the site “flipped” into the house, pushing it off its foundation and crushed the workmen underneath.

Insp Shearer said two men died and two others had received serious injuries

He said a police dog had been sent in to check there was no one else trapped.

Neighbour Tiffany Pedersen said the digger’s impact caused the house to collapse.
