Embattled Brown pinning hopes on reshuffle
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was today faced with the task of picking up the pieces of his shattered cabinet and fashioning a reshuffle which can restore his authority and preserve his premiership.
The shock resignation of James Purnell last night has left a third empty seat at the cabinet table and given the Prime Minister a further headache in constructing a top team which can unite around him.
