Mongolia’s opposition claimed victory in presidential elections and the incumbent conceded defeat, signalling a cordial end to a tight race that some feared could spark riots if it was too close to call.

Official results are expected later today, but the ruling People’s Revolutionary party said yesterday’s election was fair and it has accepted that its candidate has lost.
