Tens of thousands of demonstrators were today descending on two German towns and the French city of Strasbourg to protest at a Nato summit marking the alliance’s 60th anniversary.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicholas Sarkozy are among 28 world leaders expected at the two-day summit beginning tomorrow.
