A head-on collision between a bus and a lorry in central Russia has killed 14 people.

The crash happened early this morning on a main road near Petushki, about 75 miles east of Moscow.

Vladimir Makarin, of the regional Emergency Situations Ministry, said on television station NTV that 14 people were killed and four injured.

The condition of the injured was not reported

Russian news agencies say the lorry veered across the dividing line and smashed into the bus, which caught fire.

The reports said the driver of the truck, who was among those killed, was believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel.
