Madoff close to plea deal

Disgraced US financier Bernard Madoff today appeared close to entering a plea bargain with prosecutors over an alleged $50m (€40m) fraud.

The US Attorney’s office issued a court document stating Madoff was ready to waive an indictment – a move taken to mean a deal was close to being announced.
