India pledges to win Gandhi auction

India today promised to buy a set of Gandhi’s personal possessions put up for auction against the country’s protests.

The planned sale of the items, which belong to collector and peace activist James Otis, raised an outcry in India, prompting the government to attempt to bring them back to his homeland.
