Two foreign journalists – a Briton and a Spaniard – have been released after nearly six weeks in captivity, a Somali governor said today.

Muse Gelle Yusuf is a governor in northern Somalia’s Puntland region, which has become notorious for kidnappings.

He said the kidnappers released the British reporter and Spanish photographer today. They were abducted in late November while reporting on piracy.

He said he would release more details at a news conference later in the day.
