Jury still out in Rhys Jones murder case
The jury in the Rhys Jones murder trial today began its fourth day of deliberations.
Sean Mercer (aged 18) of Good Shepherd Close, Croxteth, Liverpool, denies shooting 11-year-old Rhys on August 22 last year.
The prosecution alleges that he cycled to the car park of the Fir Tree public house in Croxteth and fired three shots at rival gang members, catching innocent Rhys in the crossfire.
The seven women and five men on the jury panel at Liverpool Crown Court have heard eight weeks' worth of evidence in the case.
