Meredith murder trial moved

The trial of the couple accused of killing British student Meredith Kercher in Italy was delayed by a month today.

The case against American Amanda Knox and her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito had been due to start on December 4.

But a judge today moved it back to January 16 to give court officials more time to prepare.

Knox and Sollecito have been charged with murder and sexual violence over the killing of Leeds University student Meredith last year in the house she shared with Knox.

Meredith’s semi-naked body was found on November 2, 2007 in the Umbrian town.

Her throat had been cut and there were more than 40 other injuries to her body.

Last month a third accused Rudy Guede, from the Ivory Coast, was convicted on the same charges and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
