Seven killed in Canadian plane crash
Seven people have been killed in a plane crash on a remote island off the coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Officials said all but one of the eight people on board the Grumman Goose amphibious plane were found dead in the second deadly crash for carrier Pacific Coast Airlines since August.
Rescue spokesperson Lt Margeurite Dodds-Lepinski said the survivor walked away from crash and was found by the Canadian Coastguard on the beach of Thormanby Island, north of Vancouver.
Pacific Coastal Airlines vice president Spencer Smith said the survivor was a passenger. He said the pilot, who was among the dead, was fairly experienced. The aircraft had left Vancouver International Airport on a charter flight.
Coastguard and search and rescue crews started scouring the area of Thormanby Island after a resident reported hearing an aircraft in distress yesterday morning.
In August a Pacific Coastal Airlines’ Grumman Goose crashed on Vancouver Island and killed five
people. Two survived.
