Bush approves US soldier's execution

US president George Bush has approved the execution of a former army cook convicted of multiple rapes and murders.

It is the first time in 51 years a president has confirmed a death sentence for a member of the US military. A White House spokesman said the president had “no doubt that the sentence is just and warranted”.
