Canada: Tasered teen dies

A teenager died after being shot with a Taser gun while he was brandishing a knife at police in Winnipeg, Canada.

Pc Jacqueline Chaput said the 17-year-old refused to obey repeated requests by officers to put down his knife and was shot with the electronic stun gun.

She said the victim allegedly broke into a car and stole items. He was followed by two citizens who flagged down police.

The teenager was taken in a critical condition to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
