Tourists killed in Egypt bus inferno
At least seven people were killed and 16 injured when a bus carrying dozens of European and Canadian tourists overturned in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula and caught fire early today.
Dr Said Issa, head of emergency services in the Sinai, said the bus overturned at a sharp curve in the road as it headed from the Sinai resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to the Egyptian capital Cairo.
The bus was carrying around 40 tourists from Canada, Italy, Russia and the Ukraine, and Dr Issa says it was gutted in the accident.
Dr Issa said seven people were killed and 16 wounded, many of them with severe burns but added that that death toll could rise.
