Russia bolsters troop numbers

Russia’s defence ministry said it was building up troop contingents in two separatist regions of neighbouring Georgia because of provocative actions by Tbilisi.

Details of the build-up were specified, but the announcement adds to the spiralling tensions between the small ex-Soviet Caucasus country and its giant neighbour.
