UN chief warns of 'global crisis' over food prices
Rocketing food prices have developed into a “real global crisis,” the United Nations secretary-general warned today.
Ban Ki-moon said the UN was deeply concerned and immediate and concerted action was needed to remedy the problem.
He was speaking to reporters today at Vienna’s UN offices on a trip to the Austrian capital to meet the nation’s top leaders and hold talks on how the United Nations and European Union can forge closer ties.
