US Vice President Dick Cheney said today an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement will require “painful concessions” by both sides, but said with hard work “success will be achieved”.

Speaking in the West Bank after meeting the moderate Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, Mr Cheney also criticised the Islamic militant group Hamas.
