Woman to stand trial for freezer baby murders
A French judge has ordered a woman suspected of killing her two newborn babies and stashing their bodies in a freezer to stand trial.
A lawyer for Veronique Courjault said today she faces murder charges. The judge in Tours has dismissed the case against her husband, Jean-Luis Courjault.
In July 2006, Jean-Louis Courjault alerted police in South Korea, where the couple lived at the time, to the presence of the babies in the freezer.
The couple initially denied the babies in the freezer were theirs, but Veronique Courjault later admitted to the killings.
She also told investigators she had killed another child she bore in 1999 in France and burned the body in the fireplace of the home.
Her trial could take place by the end of the year.
