One dead as helicopter crashes on freeway

One person was killed when a helicopter crashed on to a busy freeway in the US, officials said today.

The accident happened just after 11pm on Friday night (0700 GMT Saturday) on the southbound lanes of Highway 110 in south Los Angeles, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Ron Myers said.

Fire crews arrived at the scene to find the aircraft burning. One body was later found in the wreckage.

The victim’s identity was not immediately released.
