Iraqi parliament votes to reinstate Baathists

Iraq’s parliament today approved legislation on the reinstatement of former Baath Party supporters to government jobs, seen as a key step towards national reconciliation.

The voting was carried out by a show of hands on each of the Act’s 30 clauses.
